Mexican labor was instrumental to the growth of California's agriculture, especially the booming citrus industry. Citrus was California's top revenue-creating industry at its height. Despite being vital to the industry's success, Mexicans were hidden away from citrus glamor and glory. These men and women made the best of a strenuous situation, creating a tight community, becoming champions of labor rights, and making an enormous impact on the regional history of Southern California.
