Inspiration and Final Thoughts

Inspiration for the project came from living in Southern California Inland Empire. There are hundreds of references of oranges, lemons, and other citrus from street names, to orange symbolism, and even Riverside's orchards. Citrus and the remnants of citrus culture are everywhere.

This sparked a curiosity and given the opportunity to research this topic more for my digital history research project at Cal Poly Pomona. I took that opportunity. The project is created through an academic lens with the use of primary and secondary source material from Jstore along with archives like Calisphere.

I was fortunate enough to go to the Riverside orchards where I took all of the pictures of the citrus trees and Victoria Avenue. If you get the chance, I definitely recommend making the trip. It is absolutely beautiful.
